Healthy Eating Habits

Some of the most common questions I get are about how and what people should eat.
What should I eat?
When should I eat?
How much should I eat?
Should I eat meat? Dairy? Gluten?
I get them ALL the time, so I thought I’d put together this blog to simplify things!
What and how you eat doesn’t need to be complicated. Maybe one practitioner told you to stay away from night shades, one told you no meat, one told you no histamines? It can get VERY confusing, trust me I’ve been there!
I went through a phase where I could only eat maybe 10 foods because I was reacting poorly to nearly everything else!
I started playing with nutrition when I was 15 and had to go 100% cold turkey off of gluten, soy, dairy, sugar, meat, and many others.
I’ve been through PLENTY of different food plans, elimination diets, and when it comes down to it…

This would be a VERY long blog if I went in depth into all of these, so today I want to focus on some of the BIGGEST ones.
What to REMOVE, and healthy eating habits. In my opinion, these will have the biggest impact on your health.
Remember, due to how toxic our food and world are, what you REMOVE can often make a much bigger difference than what you ADD.
Choosing healthy foods can help your body manage blood sugar, improve digestion, stabilize mood, improve sleep and give you more energy. Eating healthy foods can also strengthen the immune system, reduce your risk of chronic diseases, and help you live longer and healthier.
I tell clients often that you’re either feeding health or feeding disease with every meal you consume. This mindset REALLY motivates me to make better choices with everything I put in my body.
BUT, this is not about perfection. This is about making more mindful choices most of the time, and allowing yourself to indulge on occasion. Food is meant to be enjoyed– we deserve to enjoy a treat sometimes, and life is all about balance!

So what CAN you eat? What's left?! PLENTY!
While this list may look limiting, what it leaves you with is quality Whole Foods, what your body actually WANTS, and what will provide it with the nutrients it needs to survive and THRIVE.
It leaves you with organic fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, gluten free grains, wild fish, grass-fed & pasture raised meat and dairy products, potatoes and sweet potatoes, coconut, curries, and lots of delicious options!
Healthy Eating Habits
There are many simple things you can do to improve digestion, balance blood sugar, absorb more nutrients, and enjoy every meal!
Our bodies are amazing and can heal themselves if given the right fuel. A nutrient-dense diet that includes all colors of the rainbow can protect against illness and allow us to live longer.
A balanced diet full of Whole Foods and WITHOUT toxic foods allows us to think more clearly, uplifts mood, and provides countless benefits to the mind and body! The next time you are grocery shopping, remember that each item placed in your cart can bring you closer to a more vibrant self!
