Living a Detox Lifestyle/Liver Support
25 September 2023
Let’s talk about loving your LIVER and proven ways to boost liver health by living a detox lifestyle.
On my 27-year health journey, going through Lyme, parasites, yeast, mold, and countless other imbalances, it became clear how important detoxing your liver is to living a healthy life and truly optimizing you health.
I recognized the importance of the liver and how it impacts everything else. If your liver’s unhappy, your gut will be unhappy, you’ll have low energy, and you might have a lot of pain. An unhappy liver causes problems and symptoms throughout the body.
So let’s dive into loving your liver and how to boost liver health and get started on your journey towards living a detoxing lifestyle!
Your liver is one of the hardest-working organs in the body. It is associated with over 500 vital bodily functions, winning the award as the body’s ultimate multitasker!
Your liver is a detoxification powerhouse and acts as a filter, removing toxins from your blood to be excreted through the digestive system. It also...
The liver does a LOT of things, and it’s important we support it so that it can do all its jobs optimally, and improve the overall health and functioning of every cell and organ in the body!

Here's the problem
Your liver is powerful, but it’s constantly under an enormous amount of stress, and without living a detoxing lifestyle, you’re adding more and more stress to it every single day.
Our modern world is FULL of toxins, our body is full of things CREATING toxins, and the more toxins your liver has to process, the more stress it’s under.
Your goal is to reduce the toxic burden on your body on a daily basis by lessening the toxins you’re exposed to, AND by lessening the toxins already in your body.
When your liver is constantly being bombarded by toxins and can’t remove them as fast as they are being added, it starts to back up. When that happens, it pushes those toxins back into your bloodstream, which are then deposited throughout your body, causing cell damage, stealing your energy, and causing a whole host of symptoms.
This is the LAST thing we want!
How to detox your liver and start living a detox lifestyle
A happy liver requires lowering your toxic load, filling your body with foundational nutrients and building blocks needed for cellular function, and supporting your gut and lymphatic system. I could dive deeper into more layers, but I’ll save that for another blog.
Here’s how to detox your liver (and life) and start living a detox lifestyle…let’s get your liver happy, and it will have a compounding effect on every cell and organ in your body!
Start lessening the toxins you’re exposed to on a daily basis in these areas…
These are all huge sources of toxins. New furniture, paints, and plastics off-gas toxins for months, if not years.
Add detoxing foods and herbal drinks. Here are some foods that help detox the liver. Foods like cruciferous vegetables, berries and citrus fruits, garlic and turmeric, and drinks like milk thistle tea, dandelion tea, ginger tea, peppermint tea, and green tea can aid liver detox. Even coffee, when free of pesticides and mycotoxins, can support the liver because it contains protective antioxidants and compounds that help liver enzymes.
Sweating on a daily basis. Sweating is one of the most powerful and successful ways of eliminating excess toxins from the body and taking stress off of the liver. I sweat every day, either through exercise or the use of an infrared sauna.
I LOVE my infrared sauna. I have used an infrared sauna 3 to 4 days per week for the past 17 years, and it is truly one of the best investments I have ever made. It was pivotal in my healing journey because I could finally expel years of toxin build-up, heavy metal build-up, deal with mold toxicity, and manage die-off of pathogens.
Once I learned to replace my vitamin C, add minerals and electrolytes afterward, and paired my sauna sessions with a binder, my health skyrocketed even further! I use the Infrared Sauna from Therasage – you can save 10% with code HLTHCAVE.
Coffee enemas. I know that most people are hesitant to try their first coffee enema, and I get it. But trust me when I say that enemas changed my life!
Coffee enemas can increase glutathione production, which really pushes and supports liver detox at home. Coffee also contains compounds that stimulate the liver and gallbladder to release bile, making coffee enemas an excellent tool for increasing bile production.
Think of bile as your new best friend because adequate bile production helps us to digest food, flush toxins through the liver, and maintain a balanced gut microbiome so pathogens can’t flourish.
Just make sure you're using a mold and toxin free coffee!
Drinking warm morning lemon water is a great way to detox your liver. This is one of the simplest and least expensive things you can do to support liver detox and is one of the best liver detox drinks.
Warm lemon water also helps stimulate the production of bile, which helps with digestion and the breakdown of fats. Breaking down our food properly allows us to absorb all the nutrients in our food and use them for energy. The citric acid in lemons enhances the liver's natural detoxification processes to remove toxins from the body effectively.
PEMF Therapy. I can’t say enough about this powerful but gentle therapy. Other than the infrared sauna, my PEMF mat is the best investment I’ve ever made. I also have been using it 3-4 days a week for 17 years.
PEMF does incredible things for the body, but one of the big ones is cellular detox. It goes all the way down to the cellular level and helps mobilize and release toxins from your cells, then helps improve circulation to assist in removal from the body.
PEMF therapy completely changed my life when I was horribly sick during my Lyme treatment, and it can be completely life-changing. The PEMF device I use now is a 7-in-1 device that stacks powerful therapies WITH the PEMF – Red light, jade stones, infrared heat, and more. I can’t recommend this enough. This is the one I use and you can use code HLTHCAVE for 10% off.
Drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces. Water is essential for life, but it’s also essential for detoxing and THE best liver detox drink. Staying hydrated helps you regulate your body temperature, transport nutrients, and flush waste and toxins out of your body. Ensure your water is filtered, and add minerals and electrolytes to your water in the form of either mineral drops, a pinch of sea salt, or your favorite electrolyte mix.
Doing quarterly functional medicine detoxes. Performing a functional medicine detox can ease the toxic burden on your liver by purging years' worth of ‘sludge’ while providing the liver with the nutrients needed for optimal detoxification.
Performing a detox for 7, 14 or 21 days can improve your health quickly because, besides taking the shakes and supplements, you eliminate the most inflammatory foods to allow your body to reach its maximum healing potential.
Equilife’s 21-Day Detox is a tool I use regularly to support my overall health. It’s just such a powerful liver cleanse, I recommend everyone do it!
You can learn all about this powerful detox here. I do this liver cleanse several times a year, and it’s always the first step on my healing roadmap to reset and kickstart healing in the body.
Exercise. Stagnation brews disease. I learned this the hard way, and if you take anything away from this blog, please try to Move. Your. Body. Daily.
Movement gets the blood circulating and supplies oxygen and nutrients to your cells and organs. Exercise also helps the body sweat, therefore, sweating out toxins.
At my sickest, I still made myself pedal on an exercise bike because it allowed more oxygen to get to my brain, and I could finally comprehend what I was reading. I graduated high school from an exercise bike, and it’s one of the most important and free tools that will help you live a detox lifestyle.
ASEA. Drinking this liquid supplement daily can amplify glutathione levels and SO much more. It’s yet another amazing liver detox drink that can aid in a liver cleanse and provide countless other benefits to the body and liver.
ASEA uplevels the process by which our cells communicate and allows cells to renew, reproduce, and function optimally. There are so many benefits to this magical product that I could create an entire blog about it– so I did! Read my blog about ASEA here.
I recommend everyone do a liver cleanse, add liver cleansing foods, drink liver detox drinks, sweat every day, and really focus on lowering the amount of toxins you bring into your home and put in your body on a daily basis.
If you start to live a detoxing lifestyle and pay attention to these things, it will have a positive effect on every cell and organ in your body, and your liver will get happier and happier every day!
What tool can you implement today? Start with one and look for another to add next week. Showing your liver some love will allow your entire body to come into balance.
